We are an RYA Recognised Training Centre and run various courses over the year. Club members are eligible for a discount.
All you need for the course is a change of clothes, soft soled shoes and, if possible, waterproof jacket and trousers.  After the course you can use the club boats for free.
Please see the Sailing School section of the website for further information and the courses we offer.

Racing

Organised racing takes place most weekends from late March to mid-December, either Saturday or Sunday and on Wednesday evenings during the summer.   All classes of monohull dinghies under 17ft in length and that have an RYA rating are accepted.
Races are normally of one hour duration and in summer start at 11.00. 13.00 & 14.30.  Classes regularly raced include Laser, Laser Radial, Solo, Streaker, Tera, Kestrel, Mirror, Lark, Fireball, Topper, and Oppie.  Junior racing is in our programme and actively encouraged.

Youth

We have an active youth section, with separate prizes for most of our racing and some dedicated events with specialised training.  Our youths often represent the club at the Cambridgeshire Youth League races.  They also progress onto joining the Cambridgeshire Schools and Youth Sailing Association and represent the county at national championship events.

Safety

During racing one of the safety boats is manned and two way radios are used to communicate between the rescue boat shore. Buoyancy aids must always be worn when on the water plus wet or dry suits from 1st November to 31st March.

Events

Various classes visit for their meetings and Junior league competition sees our youth representing Paxton at Cam, Grafham, Hunts and Ely Sailing Clubs.
We also host our annual 24 hour charity race in the summer.

Social

Social events include barbecues, the Charity 24 Hour marathon, as well as “members and friends occasions”.
The Laying-up supper is the main social gathering, when the presentation of cups to winners takes place, followed by entertainment for all ages.
